China-based state-run CGN Solar Energy Development will set up 10 model PV power-generating stations with total installation capacity of 500MWp and eight ordinary stations with that of 400MWp in China and thus will procure PV modules via open tender. 25 PV module suppliers will participate in the open-bid, according to China-based media reports.

China’s National Energy Administration has set target total PV installation capacity of 18.1GWp for PV power-generating stations to be established in China in 2016, with 5.5GWp assigned for model ones required to use high-efficiency PV modules as reference projects, the reports said.

There are 19 competitors for model PV power-generating stations, and most of them quote for PV modules made of monocrystalline solar cells with prices ranging from CNY3.19 (US$0.47)/W to CNY3.68/W. For ordinary PV power-generating stations, 22 suppliers are in the competition, quoting CNY3.38-3.6/W for PV modules made of monocrystalline solar cells and CNY3.167-3.527/W for those made of polycrystalline solar cells.
